1.1 Introduction

Welcome to "How to Design a Business Card". My name is Melody Nieves, and I'll be your instructor. In this first lesson, we'll check out the history of business cards and look at the three different business card designs we'll be creating.

1.1 Introduction

Business cards are essential for entrepreneurs and really all creative professionals alike. They date all the way back to the 18th century, when royals would send these visiting cards ahead of time to announce their arrival. And to be honest, not much has changed. We still use these cards to introduce ourselves and our dreams to others, with the hopes of creating lasting impressions and hopefully opening the doors to new opportunities. Hey everyone, my name is Melody Nieves, for Envato Tuts+, and welcome to this course, How to Make Business Cards in Adobe Photoshop. I can't wait to show you how easy it is to bring these designs together using incredible resources from Envato Elements, which, by the way, are included with your subscription. Now I have specifically made this course to make you feel a lot more confident, no matter your experience level with design. Just follow along with my simple steps, and you'll have cool professional looking business cards in no time at all. Starting with the basics, we'll dive into everything you need to know about business cards, including the appropriate sizes, formats and guidelines. Along with an overview of all of our designs and the tools you'll need to know how to make them. Then we'll create the cards. Each features a front and back design using simple shapes, premium fronts and incredible stocks and patterns. By the end of this course, you'll have so many graphic design techniques under your belt, along with three multi-purpose templates you can totally customize yourself. Use them as is or update them easily for a brand new business card made by you. So are you ready to get started? Let's begin with the first lesson.
