1.1 Introduction
How do you see the world around you? Does it move in a way that's different from reality? Perhaps it's like living in a dream that only you understand. And the best way to show others is to simply recreate it. Well, we call this surrealism. Hello everyone and welcome to Surreal Digital Paintings. My name is Melody Nieves and I'll be your instructor for this course. Ever since I could remember I've been obsessed with surrealistic art. And with the wonderful Frida Kahlo as my idol, muse and teacher, I've been using surrealism to tell the stories in my mind for many, many years. As artists we like to think of our work as an extension of ourselves. From the way we see the beloved people in our lives to our opinions on the world around us, in some way, shape, or form, we are always in our work. In this course, we'll dive right into a surrealistic piece that's based on real life events. And you can follow along easily as I have specifically crafted this painting using free images you can download for yourself. Improve your overall sense of composition, the quality of your linework, and put your composition to the test by creating many thumbnail paintings to help guide you for the main event. Learn how to apply these traditional techniques to your digital art, and I promise you'll walk away as a much stronger artist. Whether you love surrealism as much as I do or just wanna pick up some helpful techniques, I hope you'll join me for this course. So if you're ready to get started, let's move on to the next lessons, where I'll show you exactly what you'll need.
