Next, it's time to start working with our text. Remember, you can use any font you prefer for this process, but we'll be using the sans serif font Indigo.
We won't necessarily strictly stick to our isometric grid—but you could if you wanted to. This could be a great idea if you wanted to create additional isometric elements that both break and adhere to the grid.
Here's a preview of some of the process we'll follow, starting with some simple text and then pushing the aesthetic further:

5. Adding Layers and Colour
In this lesson, we'll experiment with layers, color, and other tools we can use to give our isometric text depth. Effects like the 3D Extrude and Bevel Options can help us more easily achieve more complicated effects.
Can't find this effect? Go to Effect > 3D > Extrude & Bevel.
Using layers, we can Duplicate and Arrange our content to create a colorful effect, packed with visible depth. Take a look at the difference these techniques can make.
Open the Layers panel by going to Window > Layers. Rearrange your artwork by selecting it, going to Object > Arrange, and choosing the arrangement of your choice.
6. Adding Shadows
A change in color here creates an interesting sense of depth, but let's push it further. In this next lesson, we'll add shadows to our work to bring the aesthetic together. There's a ton you can achieve with gradients in Adobe Illustrator, and we'll explore just that.
Take a look at the difference adding shadows makes to our isometric text effect. It's a pretty dramatic addition, and it really adds a lot of depth.
