For the purposes of this Photoshop brochure tutorial, I'm using the Trifold Brochure template for Photoshop from Envato Elements. It’s a modern and trendy creative brochure design (PSD) that uses a standard trifold layout.

1. Customize the Text

Start by opening up the brochure template in Photoshop. I’ll be customizing the front first, so I’ve opened the Front.psd file.

As you can see from the screenshot, each layer is named and organized, which makes editing the brochure file very easy.

To edit the text:

  1. Click the T icon or press the letter T on your keyboard.
  2. Position your mouse next to the text you want to edit on your Photoshop document.
  3. Then, highlight the text and enter your own information.
  4. Repeat this process for each text layer in your Photoshop document.

As you’re editing the text, you can also change the font that was used by selecting a different font from the drop-down menu in the top bar.

2. Change the Colors

Once you’re done editing the text, you can change the colors used in the brochure design. Looking at all the available layers, I can see that I need to select the layer group named Shape BG.

Once the folder has been expanded, clicking an individual layer allows me to change the color by using the color picker tool. Here, you can enter a HEX color code for your brand colors, or you can use the color picker to find a color you want to use.

3. Add Your Images

Make your brochure stand out by adding your own images. The Trifold Brochure template for Photoshop comes with a layer group named Images and image placeholders that make it easy to add images.

To add images:

  1. Click the layer group to expand it, and then double-click the layer thumbnail.
  2. Once a new file tab loads in your Photoshop window, paste your image and close the window.
  3. Be sure to save the changes when the Save dialog appears.

4. Customize the Back

The last step is to customize the back of the brochure. If your template came with two separate PSD files, you'll need to open the Back.psd file in Photoshop and repeat the previous steps to customize your text, fonts, and colors. You can then save your file by clicking File > Save.

5 Quick Photoshop Brochure Design (PSD) Tips for 2024

Now that you've found the perfect template for your brochure and you know how to design a brochure in Adobe Photoshop, there are a few more things to keep in mind. Make sure your brochure has an effective and memorable design with these tips:

1. Mind the White Space

Remember to leave enough room around elements on your brochure pages. This is known as white space and will make your brochure more appealing.

2. Limit the Use of Fonts

Keep the fonts used in your brochure design in Photoshop to two or three max. Anything more than that and your brochure will start to look amateurish and unprofessional.

3. Experiment With the Layout

Don’t be afraid to experiment with the layout. For example, if you've got a lot of information to include, opting for a bifold layout is a safe choice. But if you've got less information, you could get away with a trifold layout with more photos.

4. Use Colors Carefully

While a brochure is a great way to add color to your design and reinforce your brand, make sure the final design is still pleasing to the eye and easy to read. Ensure there's enough contrast between colors and that they go well together.

5. Let Them Know What to Do Next

Lastly, don’t forget to make it obvious what the next step is. Include your contact information as well as clear instructions on what readers should do to get in touch with you.
