## How to Highlight Text in Photoshop

### Step 1

In this section, we are going to cover highlighting text in Photoshop. I'll use the text design below, made using Typeday Modern Logo Font Family for a demonstration purposes, and highlight the word Highlight.

### Step 2

Now select the Background layer, choose the Rectangle Tool (U), and click and drag inside the canvas to create a new rectangle shape layer in the size of the word Highlight. Then, set the Shape Fill Type to #ffff00 and Shape Stroke Type to No Color.

### Step 3

Press Control-T on your keyboard to transform this layer, and set the Width and Height as you like, depending on how much you want to offset the highlight of the text. If you want to have an equal highlight offset on all sides, make sure to click on the Link icon between Width and Height to maintain the aspect ratio. Otherwise, uncheck the Link icon and adjust the Width and Height separately. You can also use the Move Tool (V) once you've transformed the shape to position it as you like. Here is my result:
