1.3 Process Overview

In this lesson we will discuss the basic three-part process of this course. The three parts are:

  1. Sketch: a loose, gestural pass where we don’t worry about making nice marks but just try to get our basic idea, proportions and perspective right.
  2. Ink: a more refined second pass where we trace over the sketch layer but use more bold, deliberate strokes to create a cleaner line drawing.
  3. Final: we block in the ink layer and begin painting in the character to make him/her seem realistic, beautiful and three-dimensional.
